We’re halfway through the Nigerian Content Human Capital Development (NC-HCD) programme! The MJD Graduate Trainees have officially completed their intensive six-month classroom and laboratory training with our technical training partner, DORET Limited.

Launched in March 2026 by MJD Oilfield Services in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, this milestone marks the completion of Phase 1 of the 12-month initiative.

From Theory to Technical Competence

Over the past six months, the cohort underwent rigorous theoretical instruction and simulated field exercises aligned with NCDMB HCD Guidelines and the NOGICD Act. The curriculum delivered in-depth technical modules across three essential asset-integrity pillars:

  • Pipeline Pigging & Inline Inspection: Mastered intelligent pigging operations, scraper trap management, geometric surveys, and data logging for inline defects.
  • Corrosion Mitigation & Control: Conducted surface preparation assessments, cathodic protection measurements, coating application checks, and chemical inhibition testing.
  • Pipeline Integrity Management: Evaluated non-destructive testing (NDT) reports, stress distribution, and pressure containment calculations critical for high-pressure gas corridors like the AKK pipeline network.

High Standards and Performance Metrics

Throughout Phase 1, trainees adhered strictly to the NCDMB's mandatory 99.9% attendance requirement and completed continuous technical evaluations. DORET’s instructional team conducted weekly practical assessments to ensure every participant met international offshore and onshore engineering benchmarks.

Preparing for On-Site Field Deployment

With the classroom phase successfully concluded, all 32 trainees are now preparing for Phase 2: direct field placement across MJD Oilfield Services’ operational sites and engineering facilities. This second six-month phase will transition trainees from controlled lab environments to live energy infrastructure projects.

The MD of MJD Oilfield Services put it best, Engr. Olayemi Familusi said,

Phase 1 established the technical baseline. Phase 2 is where that knowledge meets real-world execution. Our objective remains clear: equipping these young Nigerian engineers to step directly onto project sites and protect national assets.
