MJD partners with Renaissance Africa and NCDMB to Empower the Next Generation
In partnership with the NCDMB, MJD Oilfield Services Limited and Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited have launched a 12-month Nigerian Content Human Capital Development (NC-HCD) programme in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The future of pipeline engineering in the Nigerian oil and gas field is ours for the taking. However, it will take a commitment to train and support homegrown talent. Talent that would in turn drive the development of the oil and gas field. This commitment is one that is championed by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), but shared by outfits like MJD Oilfield Services Limited and Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited.
In partnership with the NCDMB, MJD Oilfield Services Limited and Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited have launched a 12-month Nigerian Content Human Capital Development (NC-HCD) programme in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The programme is a direct investment in indigenous engineering capability, built on both theoretical and practical experience.
32 Graduates, Three Core Disciplines
The programme gives graduates the field skills to design and mange the pipelines and flowlines that connect the oil and gas field. With DORET Limited as technical training partner, and a curriculum aligned with both the NCDMB Human Capital Development Implementation Guidelines (2020) and the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act, this programme has been designed to 32 graduates in pipeline engineering with a focus on:
- Pipeline pigging: inline inspection, cleaning and maintenance of pipelines using pigs.
- Corrosion control: preventing corrosion damage to extend the working life of pipeline assets.
- Integrity monitoring: tracking pipeline condition so product keeps moving safely across the network.
Each trainee is fully supported by MJD Oilfield Services and its partners. As such each trainee is provided with:
- Monthly stipends and meal allowances
- Mobilisation and demobilisation allowances
- Learning resources, including a laptop and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Health insurance coverage
- Local and international certifications on successful completion
Leadership Perspectives
At the launch, MJD's Managing Director, Engr. Olayemi Familusi, commended the NCDMB's sustained contribution to the growth of the Nigerian oil and gas industry and urged the cohort to put their skills to work in Nigeria:
Beneficiaries are encouraged to apply these acquired skills within the country, where opportunities for growth and impact continue to expand.
Mrs. Tarilate Bribena-Teide, Manager, Human Capital Development at the NCDMB, represented the Board's Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe. She described the programme as a strategic investment in Nigeria's energy security, noted that a minimum attendance rate of 99.9% is mandatory, and said:
This programme requires full dedication and has the potential to significantly transform participants' career trajectories.
What Comes Next
The 12-month training programme is now live and will run as planned; first with the theoretical training at DORET, and then with the practical training with the team at MJD.
With programmes like this, MJD hopes to curate a pool of pipeline engineers who are well primed for project work across Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
